The Decus Educational Trust

Weekly Bulletin: Friday 29th November 2024

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

Now the days are becoming more wintery and Advent draws near, it is lovely to hear our students' voices ring through the school as the they learn a selection of seasonal songs and prepare for a range of festive performances - those who are able to attend any of our forthcoming Christmas events are certainly in for a treat! Individual letters have been sent out to inform you of all these events but for quick reference, they can all be found through the links below:

Year 5 & 6 Carols at the Church

This week we interviewed a number of students who were keen to take the role of Student Ambassadors. We were so impressed with each and everyone's performance in interviews that we have decided to award them all the position. This would mean that all of them will have a turn of speaking to visitors and showing them around whenever the need should arise. It blew us away to hear pupils freely talk about the opportunities they have to voice their opinions and to have a positive impact on the school. One even mentioned how our school was a democracy and was really preparing them for their futures.  Well done and thank you for putting yourselves forward for the role - you are and were amazing!

Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.

Below, you can see this week's attendance data. The stars indicate the year groups who were awarded 5 minutes extra Green Time for topping everyone else's attendance:
