Weekly Bulletin: Friday 25th April 2025

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

We hope that you all enjoyed the Easter break and accompanying sunshine! It is wonderful to have everyone back.

The term has got off to a good start. Our year 2 students have been amazing us with their fractions knowledge. They were confidently able to identify halves and quarters of different numbers and objects. We were very impressed. Well done year 2!

Year 2 Fractions

Our year 4 pupils have been thinking about all things sugary and fantastical this week.  They have been creating their own ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ inspired worlds, using adjectives, metaphors and similes to describe them in their writing. The children have been extremely clever in their use of words and managed to create some delectable imagery within our minds as we read, tantalising our taste buds and imagination. Well done year 4!

Year 4 Writing

We will continue to share the learning experiences of other year groups week on week.

Our Values Assembly this week was used to learn about the origins of Earth Day celebrations across the World. Ever since the 1970s, Earth Day has been used to raise awareness of environmental issues. We identified seven ways in which we can look after the environment. You can support your child with this learning by watching and discussing the following video together.

On Monday we held our first Parent / Carer / School Consultation Meeting. Thank you to those who have contributed to this or the survey that went out beforehand. Your time was appreciated! It was useful to share different insights regarding school attendance. We will look to trial some of the ideas that were raised in due course.

Best wishes,

Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.

Please note, that we are currently transferring systems with SIMs moving over to Arbor as a result there will be delay in publishing our attendance data. We will publish this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!
