Weekly Bulletin: Friday 11th October 2024

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

This week has been full of many wonderful and proud moments for our learners and the wider community.

We kicked off with some exciting Autumnal fun in our Early Years. It was lovely to see so many of the children engaging with Mrs Gardner’s hedgehog and playing alongside their parents at our Stay and Play Sessions - Thank you to all who attended!

Our students filled the building with seasonal songs as we came together on Tuesday to remember those less fortunate than ourselves and to give thanks to our farmers who successfully harvest our foods year on year. Again, this year we collected food for the Gravesham Food Bank - Thank you to all who supported this worthy cause!

We are keen to find more ways for Parents and Carers to get involved in school life and after school on Wednesday, we invited everyone to come in for refreshments and a presentation with class teachers. We hope for this to be the first of many such opportunities but should you have missed the events, the presentations that were shared will be made available to you shortly online. - It was lovely to see so many of you there. Thank you for coming!

Year 6 and Year 2 did us all proud with their year group assemblies on Thursday - It was great to hear about what you have been learning in class. Well done!

Communication is a topic that gets raised time and time again by parents. So much so, that we have tried various different things - based upon the views that you have shared. Frustratingly, we feel that we are still not getting it right for everyone. On that note, we want to be able to find the most effective means of getting information out to you all. We recognise that we have recently welcomed many new families to the school and would especially welcome fresh ideas. Please could we encourage you all to click HERE and share your thoughts on this matter? We really would like to understand how everyone feels so would like to urge everyone to take the time to complete the form - Thank you!

Have a lovely week everyone.

Best wishes,

Angela Carpenter

Attendance

The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.

Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.

Below, you can see this week's attendance data. The stars indicate the year groups who were awarded 5 minutes extra Green Time for topping everyone else's attendance:
