Weekly Bulletin: Friday 10th January 2025
Dear Parents, Carers & Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back!
This term has got off to a positive start with the children easing back into learning and their usual routines.
It is lovely to see how enthusiastically the pupils engaged with their learning. The year 6 have really been inspired by the text that they are reading about Shackleton. They subsequently have written some very well considered diary entries. All of the pupils were keen to share these with the wider learning community - Well done!
Week on week, we will look to share the learning experiences of other year groups.
Thank you to the PTA and all those who have supported their events. The money raised has enabled the children to enjoy 2 fab pantomimes this week. On Thursday, the upper school children enjoyed seeing ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and on Friday the lower school saw Beauty and Beast. It’s been wonderful to hear the children laughing, booing, cheering and it’s behind you ringing out from the hall.
Upper Key Stage Pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk
Lower School Pantomime - Beauty and the Beast
We started this term with an assembly focused on new beginnings and fresh starts. The children were asked to think about the school values and identify one that they would like to do better with on their return to school. Please talk to your child and support them with this and discuss strategies that might help them to do this.
Have a lovely week everyone.
Best wishes,
Angela Carpenter

Attendance
The foundations of learning are laid in the Primary years of schooling and so Whitehill Primary School is committed to making sure that our children do not miss out on the education and care that we offer. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be happy, successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them now and in the future.
Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils and we use a variety of rewards and incentives to promote good attendance and punctuality. Awards are group focused rather than given to individuals as we recognise that our students cannot help being absent for medical reasons.
Below, you can see this week's attendance data. The stars indicate the year groups who were awarded 5 minutes extra Green Time for topping everyone else's attendance:
